How to Get Here/Contact Us
Many airlines fly to the capital, San Jose. From there you can either:
1) Take a local flight to Golfito with
Sansa or
Nature Air . Flights are around $90 and you can enjoy the stunning descent into the beautiful airstrip at Golfito. From there you can rent a car from
Solid Car Rental or grab a taxi (about $70) for the hour ride to Finca Estrella. The other option is to rent our Nissan Pathfinder for $40 a day ($200 a week). That way you save money as you only rent a car when you need it. We can also rent it with a driver for $75 a day inclusive of gas.
From Golfito airstrip follow the road through the town (there is only one) and stock up with groceries either at Megasuper or Pearson . After shopping, continue for about 10 minutes until you see the sign on your right for the turning to Playa Pavones. Take this right turn. After another 5 minutes you will cross the river Coto on the new bridge. From there follow the signs towards Playa Pavones. You will turn right at Conte (don’t blink or you’ll miss it) with its supermarket on the right and bar on the left. About 2 km out of Conte the road will split and you will take the left turn towards Playa Pavones. After about 8 km you will see a bright yellow sign on your left for Finca Estrella. If you pass the tiny Escuela Cuervito (Cuervito school) on your right you have gone 100m too far so turn round. Take this turning signposted to Finca Estrella. Casa Amarilla is the bright yellow house 2.4 km up the road. You will pass Casa del Sol (on left), Casa Roja (on left) and Casa Madera (on right) as you drive.
2) Or rent a car in San Jose (there are many agencies to choose from but the cheapest seems to be
renta4x4incostarica see a bit of the country on the way down. Either take the new coast road (about 6 hours to Finca Estrella) or enjoy the mountain road (about 8 hours). Get a good map from the car hire agency and make your way to Rio Claro de Golfito in the south, close to Golfito.
Once in the centre of Rio Claro take the right signposted to Golfito. After about 10 minutes you will take a steep descent and there will be a sharp left turn signposted to Playa Pavones. (If you reach Golfito you have gone too far. Turn round and follow the directions above). Follow the road and after about 5 minutes you will cross the river Coto on the new bridge. From there follow the directions as above.
